Youth Future Village, July 20th - August 30th

Turning protest into creating something new.

Turning resistance into participation in alternatives.

Youth develops Future: Young peace workers are called on to take an active role in the political and democratic changes in Europe and the world. Let's accept our responsibility and learn to create community and solutions for a sustainable Europe and a world without war.

For this we need a six-week home base where we can learn the political and personal skills required to accomplish our visions in a political way. This six-week Youth Future Village will take place from July 20th to August 31st in Tamera, Portugal. About 60 young people (ages 15 to 30) from many different countries will design and build a community village as a learning place for democracy, and live and work together on visions and strategies for social and ecological sustainability.

The Invitation by Mara Vollmer:

On March 11th a young man went to his old school close to Stuttgart, Germany, shot 16 people and then turned the gun to himself. What must have been going on deep inside him and how immense is the drama of people who act in such a way. The same happens in wars and armed conflicts, at check points, and in crisis areas all over the world, every single day. All existing proposed solutions are not enough for us. We want and need new answers.

During these six weeks we will have time to work on solutions to steer these seemingly hopeless energies towards a new and positive future ? not just for an elite, but for all the people throughout the world. Coming from all sorts of backgrounds we will immerse in answers to questions like:

How will it go on after the breakdown of the imperial systems?
How is changing oneself and changing the world interconnected?
Why do all our personal issues ? revolving around love, partnership, and sexuality ? are of political significance?

Everyone who wants to dedicate his or her life for peace on Earth is invited.

We also invited people from crisis areas like San José de Apartadó, a peace community in Colombia, young representatives of indigenous cultures, and people from Dharamsala, a Tibetan exile haven in India. The gathering will serve to establish and deepen contact between cultures and religions, to awaken towards a global thinking, loving, and acting. Let's have a new love affair for a future without war.

Within this gathering, the International Summer University ?Global Grace Village ? Creating Models for a Future Without War? will take place from July 29th until August 7th and all of us will take part in it. Many international peace workers will present their work, and we will carry out networking.

After that we offer a ?Vision Quest? (August 12 ? 17). This is a radical method, from North and South American tribes, to recall the original idea of ones life. Those who want to participate will be given the opportunity to do so.

In order to build and sustain high energies for the entire period of time, we wish for participants to stay for the whole six weeks. The price is 600 Euros. We ask everyone, who is able to, to give more in order to support the travel expenses of our crisis area guests. (please contact the Tamera office) You will be accommodated in tents. The food is vegan, mostly regional and organic.

We invite everyone to participate in this work and adventure. The world needs our help!

In the name of peace and the paradise on our planet.

In the name of the Movement for a Free Earth.

You are warmly welcome!

Mara Vollmer
